ABOUT THIS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
ROCK BAND
Formed in the summer of 1999,
Opposition Party has steadily won converts from
the San Diego rock scene with its dark, heavy
blues-rock and energetic live shows.

The group has used the widely varied
musical backgrounds of its 4 members to create a
sound that is direct and energetic, but also
intensely musical. With their debut album nearing
completion, OP has fine-tuned their show into a
powerful and memorable experience. By drawing on
the influences of the principal players in rock:
AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep
Purple, OP looks to bring legitimacy back to a
genre that has been overrun by shallowness and
commercialism. Bassist/vocalist Bret Aita describes OP's sound as "Black
Sabbath meets the Black Crowes." This nicely
sums up OP's commitment to high-energy rock
backed by well-crafted songs. Guitarist
Eric Hendrikx, a
metal-tinged version of his namesake, augments
the live show with his heavy riffs and wild stage
antics, while the intensity and drive of drummer
Dave French invoke the
spirit of John Bonham behind the set. Bret's
vocals contain the raw power of Ozzy and the high
energy of Bon Scott, as the gritty power of Jon
Lords is combined with the dark jazz stylings of
Keith Emmerson in Neil
MacPherson's keyboard-playing.

This winning combination of influences has won OP
shows at many of the area's most-respected clubs,
accolades in the Belly-Up Tavern's
"Spotlight San Diego" event, and
followers throughout southern California. With
the release of the first album early next year,
Opposition Party is set to become a defining
force in rock music. JOIN THE OPPOSITION |
