I'm from
Orange County where I went through High School
playing in metal and rock bands. I started
playing guitar after hearing Ozzy's "Crazy
Train", and never put it down. Bought my
first guitar and amplifier from a friend for
$30.00. I moved to Santa Barbara for college and
jammed with a band called Naked Rhythm. We rocked
and played out a bunch and did some studio
recording, which got some airplay on the radio.
This is when I met and began to work with Bret
and really became more involved with and
dedicated to music. Eventually, Bret introduced
me to Dave and Neil and we all clicked. We jam
well together and we're all bros (Not to mention
we all really like whiskey!!!).
We started O. P. to make our point that Rock and
Roll needs to "Rock and Fucking Roll".
There's too many punk ass bands out there that
can't even play their own instruments, much less
any other. They're not musicians, they're punks.

My guitar playing drops in
somewhere between Zakk Wylde (friend and hero)
and Toni Iommi, both with heavy low end rhythms
and killer leads loaded with tone (I'm also into
Slash. He kick's ass!). I listen to alot of Black
Sabbath, Black Label Society, Hendrix, Led
Zeppelin, and Kyuss. (And alot of other shit
too!) Speaking of Zakk, I shoot alot of photos of
BLS for Zakk's website ZakkWylde.com
My playing style
is based around the blues and harmonic minor
scales. I like to use pentatonic minor scales in
"blues box" positions for solos and
sometimes use the Aeolian and Dorian modes. I
also make use of the Mixolydian and pentatonic
major scales.
The idea behind O.P. is that you put a ton of
sweat into your music and live show so that
everybody who shows up gets a good swift kick in
the fucking ass!!! . They come to party like rock
stars and that's what you gotta give 'em.
As far as technical stuff goes, right now I'm
playing Gibsons. I've got a 1976 Les Paul, gutted
with EMG pickups that are hot-wired to 18 volts,
and EDS 1275 Gibson Double Neck with Classic
'57s. I use a Marshall JCM800 lead amp with
vintage cabinets. My floor setup is a talk box,
overdrive, rotovibe, and wah pedal.
Cheers!
