GRAPHIC ART AND DESIGN
FOR PRINT & WEB PRESENTATION
MY SPECIALTY GRAPHICS
I specialize in middle to high-end graphics for print and web applications. While I do a certain amount of vector imaging, I prefer raster images because most of the work I do is true color, high-end, photo quality graphic art.
MY CLIENTS
Many of the people I do graphic art for are on a budget. They are individuals or small, budding companies who need professional work at reasonable prices. They've priced out work in their area and gone white in the face, so they hit the Internet trying to find good work at a more reasonable price.
I TRY TO MAKE IT EASY EVEN IF YOU ARE PRINTING IT IN-HOUSE OR ON A TIGHT BUDGET
Many people using my website graphics and art are uploading it themselves or need me to insert it in their pages. Many clients ordering printable art usually are printing it in-house. Because they are doing small volume and running on a limited budget, it is more cost effective for them to buy a good color printer than to pay for professional printing. So, to save us all frustration, for in-house print projects, I save to .TIF format without margins or margin indicators and at the highest ppi and dpi possible for them to download and handle. With careful instructions, it is easy to learn to either print straight from the file, or bring it into a favorite publishing or printing program, printing at "BEST." This is the only way to beat the ugly results that happen when using the low-end tools and wizards that most printer manufacturers and software manufacturers build into their programs designed for consumer use. Of course, sooner or later, these same clients decide to go for a large run and contact a professional printer with their file. That's usually when we get a call from the printer asking for their preferred format.
COST
By the project bid or by the hour.
Here's a breakdown of my typical print graphics prices. My website art is much cheaper as it doesn't require the high dpi settings that print graphics do, but woe to you if you decide you need it done in print, too, later on. Better to order print quality right off, because getting it reduced and compressed for use on a website doesn't cost you anything. I do it as a courtesy.
