Sue Nees
works with granite, andesite, alabaster and
soapstone.
Her direct
carving process is a study in physical experience
which searches for an instinctual understanding of
stone's behavior in relation to the human hand.
Sue creates
individual pieces as well as collaborating with other
artists in group projects such as the Saku City
Symposium in Saku City, Japan and the Marble Street
Sculpture Park in West Rutland, Vermont.
She is member
of the Fukashi Gallery, a gallery in Matsumoto, Japan
which specializes in stone sculpture and public art
planning.
Her work is
featured in numerous public, private, and corporate
collections, including the EDA Garden Museum in
Yokohama, Japan and Skypark, a public park in
Matsumoto, Japan.
