web site promotion & search engine optimization
a service of WEBART BY ZENTAO
By far, the hardest thing about this business is not building the pages and the graphics to go with them. That takes time and skill, yes. But it is interesting work. Nor is it hardest to administer a site ...ah, well, on second thought, maybe we should retract that, or at least qualify it.... However, hands down, one of THE hardest things about web site development is getting the site promoted.
Right now, the primary vehicles for getting yourself noticed on the Internet are the ubiquitous "MAJOR SEARCH ENGINES." You cannot just be listed on them. You must rank well - in the top thirty or better - not an easy task, unless you, the site owner, wants to spend an exorbitant amount of money "buying your search engine placement," ...and then someone is sure to outbid you (and even if they don't, there still aren't solid quarantees).
It used to be (just a few years ago, in fact) that if you added a few meaningful meta tags to the head of your html document, then submitted your site, you would be found. In fact, you didn't even have to submit your pages back then. The "bots" would eventually find you (and they still might, but, then, again, they might not).
That has all changed. Pages must be "optimized," a whole study in itself, and actual site promotion involves expensive tools and boring drudgery combined with skill and constant research to get a site even listed in the top 200 on the MAJOR SEARCH ENGINES - the only vehicles that really get you traffic. To get up in the top 30 where impatient web searchers will readily find the site requires a 24/7 commitment that far exceeds the requirements of fanaticism.
A WORD ABOUT WHAT WE WON'T DO TO PROMOTE A SITE:
We DO NOT and WILL NOT use spam email (electronic junk mail, UCE) FFA, and/or MLM marketing methods to promote yours, ours, or anyone's web site. We consider all of these tactics less than ethical.
